Flaxi Bags are a microwavable, natural and therapeutic alternative for pain relief, warmth, and comfort. Filled with flax seed, medicinal herbs and/or essential oils, and available in a range of authentic hand printed 100% cotton bags.
How do I heat my Flaxi bag? Simply heat in the microwave in 30 second increments until the bag feels warm. Place the bag over the aching area. The filling will gently shape and mould to the body and offer targeted pain relief. It will retain its heat for up to 40 minutes. Flaxi bag can be reheated many times over. Let it cool down completely before reheating.
How do I use Flaxi bag as a cold pack? Place your Flaxi bag in the freezer inside a sealed bag for 30 minutes or until cold.
How do I care for my Flaxi bag? To clean Flaxi Lavender Heat Bag, Flaxi Headache Compress and Flaxi Weighted Eye Pillow, use a damp sponge to lightly cleanse the outside of the bag. Do not wash or immerse in water. Flaxi Baby and Flaxi Toddler outer bags can be washed in cold water. Store your Flaxi bag in an airtight container or sealed bag after cooling to preserve its fragrance.
How long will my Flaxi bag last? When cared for properly your Flaxi bag should last for several years. Over time the lavender and essential oil fragrance will diminish. When this happens use Flaxi Bag Refresher Mists to refresh the fragrance of your bag, alternatively drop 3-4 drops of your favourite essential oil onto the bag before heating.
How does Heat Therapy work? Heat penetrates a few centimeters into tissue, and stimulates the skins sensory receptors when the tissue temperature rises. Heat decreases transmission of pain signals to the brain, and helps to increase blood flow to the injured area, which in turn expedite healing.
Why use a cold compress? A cold compress slows blood flow, decreases inflammation and slows nerve conduction, all of which help to reduce pain.
Why use Flax seed as a filler? Flax seed provides a gentle, moist heat which promotes healing. Flaxseeds are flower seeds, rather than grains, and contain 30-40% oil which remains inside the seed to be warmed again and again.
Are there any safety concerns?
- Avoid use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
- Do not apply heat to obviously injured or infected tissue (swelling, red and/or hot), acute inflammation (e.g. flare-up of arthritis), or broken skin. Instead, use your Flaxi bag as a cold compress in those instances.
- Do not overheat the Flaxi bag inside the microwave as it will scorch when heated for too long. If you notice a burning smell it has been overheated. Let it cool and dispose of it.
